Public Notice : 11 April 2012 has been declared a PUBLIC HOLIDAY inMalaysia Peninsula and Labuan to mark the 14th installation of new Malaysian king, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
The Malaysia public holiday announcement was confirmed by Malaysian government Chief Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan.
On 7 March 2012, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman also declared 11 April 2012 as a state holiday in Sabah after approving it in the State Cabinet meeting.
About a week later, the Sarawak state government reponded by also declaring that 11 April 2012 would be made a state holiday.
This is the 2nd appointment for Tuanku Abdul Halim, who was also the fifth Yang di-Pertuan Agong (king) from 1970 to 1975. He will succeed the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin who has completed his 5-year tenure.
The ceremony for the installation of new king will be held at the National Palace on 11 April 2012.
